Showcase: Vampire Counts Necromancer

Hi! Today small post about this miniature, the Vampire Counts Necromancer.
During those days I'm a bit lazy and I'm reading a lot of Lovecraft stuff -I've bought three books for the summer vacations but I've already finished two of them, they are magnetic- so I've found those pics on my pc of this guy that I was proud to have painted and shared them, in memory of the good old square bases. It is fun because he could be popped out from ''the case of Charles Dexter Ward''!

Wip: Space Scum and Space Marine Ultramarine Terminators

Hi readers!
Today I'm very happy because I've started my new five big minis, the mighty Space Marine Ultramarine Terminators and also a group of Space scum.
First the bad boys.

Here some pics about them, I'm having fun in kitbashing those guys! I like to create a unit of tailor made monster, each one/group with a different inspiration.

There is something to to for example the skinny blind  boy is going to have that round thing between the legs replaced -hoping this is not going to be weird to read- and an eye in thr eye socket in his hand.

I must return to use green stuff!!!

I suppose you can identify them like some renegade astra militarum or simply Cultists or maybe some weird creature.. they need fluff of course!

The second project are the termies.
I've decided to try to use the Ultramarine scheme because I'm very interested in twisting painting schemes, and try to add a DGD touch to the most famous marine is a challenge that I wanted to accept.

As you know I like to do those things, so let's start to paint these boys!

I do not like too much the classical blue so I decided to make a blue metal.

Also the white head are not too much fashinating me so I decided to make them a bit weathered with the cool chipping medium by mig.

It is very useful and I should use it more!
After painting the head, the body is too much dark, so I should make it a bit more shiny I suppose. I 'm not too much happy about the result so I'm painting another one slightly different but I'm not too nuch satisfied. Must work a bit more for them.

Should I add some chipping to the body?
I really do not know because I do not want a too much homogenous results. Maybe I'll add some pigment to make it more dirty.

What do you think about those guys?

Showcase: Wharhammer Chaos Sorcerer

Hi!
Here a small post about a miniature I've painted more or less 2-3 years ago, when I restarted the hobby.
When I decided to restart WH stuff, I painted my whole dark elves army then him and other minis, but this is another "story"!
I've had this sorcerer a lot of years ago: it was the ancient time when White Dwarf was a gorgeous magazine (Not a catalog). This mini, from 2004 I suppose, was a GW gift (GW and gift, incredible in the same phrase) with a subscription of one year to WD (If I remember well): and it is not the only gift that I had from GW; but this is another "another story", probably a future wip.

It is made by heavy, lovely, thick, difficult to sculpt, paint chipper metal so he can pass throught painting scheme forever.
He is logically on eBay with an high price, because I'm not sentimental (dark elves and dark eldar collector ehehe), but selling him is like selling a small part of my and GW story and it is not my core businness.

As you can see some years ago I started to walk the path of dark colours, but I was not too much dirty or gory: it is interesting use blog and stuff because you can easily see where you were years ago, where you are, and where you are going.
I'm always in search of my style, because I like perfectly painted minis, but I prefere a lot minis without a perfect shading or lighting, but with characterizing style.

Is your style changed a lot during year? And what do you think about this mini?

Projects: must, should, want an done

Hi readers!

Sometimes it is useful for me to make a list of what I've done/what in going to do  to boost my willingness to continue what I'm doing.
I used/use this trick in several occasions, so why do not use it also in the hobby?
Furthermore publish this list is a kind of oath with readers so it is going to be stronger motivation!
I divided this list in different parts: some parts have a photo to witness the "state of the art" till today.

MUST
I must finish some mini and I hope to reach the target for each one.
First I must add the Lord Celestant to my small group of Stormcast Eternals (what a long name)before the end of the year.

Showcase: Vampire Counts Vargheists

Hi DGD readers!
Today I'm going to share my last but one Vampire Counts units, the weird Vargheists. They are cool miniatures but poses are quite shameful and I do not like too much the extremely high back fur (the one with two row of fur is a bit embarassing ahaha)!
However I've painted them more or less 9 month ago (I think) and I sold them on eBay as usual.
I decided to make them with a realistic feeling (how strange) so I paint them in a grey scale (enriched with a slight shade of blue), with brown fur (Mommy GW should provide them a kind of cloth to cover their "shames"...) and black and glossy wings to create a contrast with the body (darker wings than the dark body clear the body itself).
I do not like too much paint wings generally, and I love the glossy leather finish onto miniatures, so I make them black glossy, it add a bit of sick IMHO.
I decided also to use a bit of bestial brown to veil the middle tones to give a more natural feeling. It is the same technique used with the Liberators.
Finally a classic hand of gore of course.
Hindsight a bit more of dirty should be better.

Showcase: Daemons Bloodcrushers

Hi readers!
As you already know I'm painting AOS Khorne army but they are not the first Khorne experience.
When I was a bit younger (more or less 13 years ago) I planned a Khorne army. I've repainted those old model a pair of year ago more or less, and they are all sold on eBay.

My second Khorne experience are these Bloodcrushers. I wanted to paint some miniatures with an homogenous colour scheme but with some contrast, so I decided to lacquer the metal cow (Juggernauts) and give a classic matt finish to the Bloodletters.
The Bloodletters chief has four arms to distinguish him.
I decided to give them the round and the square bases.
As everything that it is not a Dark Eldar or a Dark Elves, they were sold on eBay.

Tutorial: How to Paint Gory and Dirty Zombies!

Hi to everybody!
Today I'll show a fast and effective method to paint zombie but, you can easily turn this painting scheme to everybody who needs to be "corpsey". As always there are only ideas that I want to share, hoping to be helpful: out of this blog there is many painters and Painters better than me.

Showcase: Zombies

I love zombie (TWD fan of course): they are dirty gory and dark! With them you can experiment a great quantity of techniques, to make them really disgusting and disturbing.
This is a showcase: I've sold them (two units of 35 each one) on eBay and soon I'll make a tutorial about them (hope you'll like it). It is very funny to make units like they are rising from their graves and I love to create unit fillers to give the atmosphere to the units.
Zombies are one of my favourites miniatures to paint and create and I hope that GW is not going to change them (only change bases) and let them survive (LOL) the AoS apocalypse.

Showcase: Hellpit Abomination

Today I'll show you a big boy, a Skaven Hellpit Abomination. I've sold him (him???) on eBay last month, and it has been veeeeery funny to paint.
The advice that I can give to you if you decide to paint this monster, is to mix colours and technique because for this big model, it is easy to make an anonymous work. It is a big rat that lives with other rats in disgusting place, so it is impossible that his skin could be soft and pink.
Ah, if you want to make different parts with different colours, use the great quantity of cuts and scars to interrupt the colours: in this way it is simple fast and natural.
I also used many little mouses that you can find into the box because I wanted to give the idea that those little rats are eating a bit the Hellpit (but he doesn't care, he his too much big and badass).
